Action sought against contractors for delay in projects.

SHANGLA -- People here on Thursday demanded of the government and anti-corruption department to take action against contractors who received funds but had failed to start work on the projects.

Residents of Bisham and Alpuri told mediapersons that the contractors had received payment for development schemes in their areas, which were yet to be started.

Sources in the tehsil municipal administration and communication and works department told this scribe that in the past few years some contractors had withdrawn funds allocated for schemes without doing any work on ground.

Gul Nazar, a local resident in Sadin, claimed that Rs2.5 million had been withdrawn for street pavement project through TMA, Alpuri, but he had not seen any such work during the past five years.

He added that the contractors had also received 50 per cent of payment from the village council funds without doing any work.
