Abul Hasanat.

ON Oct 5, as I was hurriedly packing my work in the office to visit my cousin Abul Hasanat, who was on a ventilator, my brother called me to say that Bhai Sahab (as we siblings used to call him) was no more. It was one of the saddest days of my life after the death of my father, who passed away in 2002. Words are inadequate for me to express my feelings on his departure.

Life is so mercilessly relentless, and that's what makes grieving hard. The world keeps spinning, and after every night, the sun still rises. The show must go on. He had a full career at the country's most prestigious newspaper, Dawn, where he had been City Editor.

He remained loyal to the concept of the freedom of the press and was addicted to the profession.
