Abdul Aleem says minorities to be given equal status.

LAHORE -- Senior Provincial Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said on Monday that all minority communities including Christians would be given equal status in all fields and in 'New Pakistan', there would be no discrimination on any basis.

He expressed these views while addressing a cake-cutting ceremony at Mian Mir Colony, held in connection with Christmas. Bishop Yaqoob Paul, ex-MPAs Shoaib Siddiqui and Aajasam Sharif, PTI leaders Tahir Altaf and Pitras Sadiq were also present.

Abdul Aleem Khan added that there would be reserved seats for minorities in the new local governments system in Punjab and they would be given active role in the coming days. Right from the creation of Pakistan, he mentioned, minorities had always been on the forefront and their efforts in national development were commendable.

The senior minister said that especially Christian community sacrificed their lives to safeguard frontiers of the motherland, besides remaining on the top in health, education and other important sectors.
