9th grade exam to be held under new system.

LOWER DIR -- The boards of intermediate and secondary education (BISEs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have decided to conduct 50 per cent of the upcoming grade-9 annual examinations under the student learning outcome (SLO) system.

Talking to Dawn here on Saturday, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Boards' Chairmen Committee (KPBCC) head Prof Zamin Gul said earlier the boards had announced to conduct 100 per cent of the upcoming examinations under the SLO system. However, the decision was reconsidered at a meeting held recently with the secretary education in the chair.

He said director elementary and secondary education department Hafiz Mohammad Ibrahim, district education officers and chairmen of all educational boards attended the meeting.

The KPBCC chairman said the DEOs suggested that as a lot of time had been wasted during the ongoing academic session due to its delayed start, the decision to conduct examinations under the SLO system would embarrass students.

Prof Gul said the meeting then agreed to conduct 50 per cent of the examinations under the SLO system and 50 per cent under the old system.

He said all boards would conduct the 9th grade examinations under the SLO system from 2024.
