8 rainwater reservoirs to be built in Lahore.

LAHORE -- Punjab government has decided to construct eight underground rainwater reservoirs at eight different places in Lahore to prevent collection of water on roads during rainy season.

Further, the government has also approved an Agriculture Marketing Complex at Lakho Dair under the Agricultural Markets Establishment Programme in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Additionally, the funding required for completion of ongoing schemes for provision of sports facilities in different districts under the Sports department would be ensured on priority basis.

These decisions were made in the 51st meeting of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Finance and Development presided over by Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht here at Chief Minister's Secretariat on Thursday

During the meeting, Provincial Finance Minister instructed the Sport Department to ensure access of common man to sports complex and other sports facilities. The purpose of setting up a sports complex should not be provision of the entertainment opportunities to the elite class but to bring forward capable sportsmen.

The minister observed that the architecture of educational institutions, especially universities also impacts on the students' health. Thus, the Communication and Work department should also focus on adapting modern requirements of the architecture department for the construction of government buildings.
