70 preachers among 73 new Covid-19 cases in Lodhran.

LODHRAN -- Seventy-three people were found to be infected with Covid-19 in the district in the last two days, including 70 preachers of the Tableeghi Jamaat.

According to Kehror Pacca Assistant Commissioner Ahmed Faraz Awan, 239 samples had been sent recently for coronavirus tests, and on Saturday and Sunday they received results of 194 of them. Out of these, 73 were declared positive, including 70 Tableeghi Jamaat members, while the remaining were negative.

Meanwhile, DHQ hospital Medical Superintendent Nabeel Saleem said three patients of the virus were under treatment at the hospital. One of them had tested negative in his latest reports and he was completing his 14-day quarantine period.The other two will be tested again soon, the MS said, adding that one other patient had been discharged after recovery.

JHANG: Two children of the same family tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday, raising the number of infected members of the family to 10.

Swabs of 42 members of a family had been sent for coronavirus tests after a relative died of the virus in Karachi. Four members had been declared positive a few days back and another four a couple of days ago, while results of two children came out positive on Sunday.

The children were shifted to quarantine centre at the veterinary university campus, increasing the number of patients at the centre to 35. Tests of the remaining 32 family members came out negative.

KASUR: Alarm bells rang when 10 more people, including six minors, of the same locality were diagnosed with Covid-19 on Sunday.

Earlier, two children from Allahabad's Rehmanpura locality had tested positive for the virus on March 30 and April 4. When the first case was detected on March 30, the tehsil administration had sent samples of over a dozen area residents for tests, but could not receive their results till April 14. In the meantime when another child tested positive, 390 more samples were sent for tests.

The administration suspected that due to the inordinate delay in getting the results, the virus could have infected dozens of people during that time. The suspicion turned out to be true when results of 200 of the 390 samples were received on Sunday and 10 of them came out positive. Results of the remaining 190 samples were awaited.
