5 of a family among 11 dead in inclement weather in Dir, Khyber.

Eight people including five of a family died amid the ongoing heavy snowfall in Upper Dir district and three persons died in roof-collapse incidents in Khyber district on Saturday.

Roof of a house collapsed in Doog Dara area of Upper Dir early Saturday morning, leaving killing a mother and her four children dead. Locals rushed to the site and retrieved the bodies from under the debris. The deceased were identified as Ruqia, her 10-year-old child Ibrar, eight-year-old Sudais, four-year-old Ayyan and two-year-old Masroora.

In Surbat, Shamoorgar, Ali Gasar, Usherai Dara areas, three other people also lost their lives in roof-collapse incidents.

Locals said that Lowari tunnel area had received four feet snow on Saturday while the Met Office town recorded 128 millimetres rain and six-inch snow in Dir city.
