3,600 free-of-cost surgeries performed at NICVD in 2022.

KARACHI -- More than 3,600 surgeries were performed free of cost at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in 2022, data released by the facility said.

These cardiac surgeries and procedures were performed on children and adults in various cities of Sindh during 2022.

According to a press release, the health facility was visited by over 2.2 million patients last year.

It said that over 13,000 angioplasties were carried out at the facility where doctors examined 304,414 patients in the outpatient department and treated 276,865 patients requiring emergency services. Over 51,162 patients were admitted to the wards.

A total of 275,568 patients reported at the NICVD system from other provinces - 63,639 patients from Punjab, 184,387 from Balochistan, 12,492 from Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, 13,102 from Azad Kashmir and 1,948 from Gilgit-Baltistan.
