27 secretaries to control coronavirus, locusts and prices.

LAHORE -- On the direction of Punjab chief minister, 27 administrative secretaries have been assigned duties to monitor the ongoing wheat procurement, activities to control Covid-19, dengue, locusts and prices of essential commodities in nine divisions of the province.

Chief Secretary Jawwad Rafique Malik deputed on Tuesday three secretaries in each division and a notification has been issued in this regard. The officers will remain stationed in their assigned divisions two days a week and submit reports about their visits to the districts regularly.

The instructions came in a meeting, presided over by the chief secretary, convened to review action against hoarding and profiteering, supply chain of eatables, steps against coronavirus, dengue and locusts, wheat procurement and Covid-19 patients' capacity management.

Lahore Division commissioner, special branch additional IG and officers concerned attended the meeting, whereas divisional commissioners and regional police officers joined through video link.

Speaking at the meeting, the chief secretary said that top officials had been asked to work in divisions with a view to provide relief to people.

He directed the health department and district administrations to ensure healthcare and other necessary facilities for Covid-19 patients.
