20,306 tons of garbage removed from megacity.

KARACHI -- The Sindh government under its special `Clean My Karachi campaign' has lifted 20,306 tons of garbage through 1101 trips of loaders during the first two days of its drive started from September 21. In a daily report submitted to the chief minister, the Local government Minister Syed Nasir Shah has said that on September total 13181 tons of garbage was lifted by engaging 1134 workers while on the first day, Sept 21, 7152 tons of garbage was lifted and 1263 workers participated in this drive. According to report on the inaugural day of the campaign, Sept 21, total 212 dumpers lifted 7152 tons of garbage and dumped at temporary GTS by making 848 trips. In the sweeping and garbage lifting work 1263 workers were engaged.

On Sept 22, the garbage lifting work was made more organized and lifted 13181 tons of garbage through 1253 trips. 147 dumpers were used on which 1134 workers were used. In this day during the two-day campaign 20,306 tons of garbage was lifted. The highest quantity of 2500 tons of garbage has been lifted from Model Colony, 2200 tons from Korangi, 2000 tons from Shah Faisal Colony, 1540 tons from Landhi. The chief...
