2,000 police officials to be deployed on New Year's Eve.

ISLAMABAD -- The police have made an elaborate security plan for New Year's Eve in the capital, including deploying 2,000 personnel to maintain the peace.

According to a press release, the plan for finalised by Inspector General of Police Islamabad Mohammad Aamir Zulfiqar in a meeting on Monday night attended by Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Waqaruddin Syed, Director General Safe City Sarfaraz Ahmed Falki, senior superintendents of police (SSP) security, traffic, Counter Terrorism Force, law and order, assistant inspector general of police (Special Branch) (AIG), AIG (operations) and additional and zonal superintendents of police (SP).

IGP Zulfiqar issued directions to deploy a police contingent in key places, shopping centres and markets.

He added that people should behave and avoid any irresponsible activities.

Wheelies, firing into the air or letting off fireworks will not be allowed

Following the IGP's directives, all police officials will ensure deployment in their respective areas while police commandos will be deployed in different areas and police patrols will be carried out.
