19 die in Haripur, Karak, Swabi on Eid.

HARIPUR -- A total of 19 people lost life in separate incidents in Haripur, Karak and Swabi areas during Eid holidays.

Eight deaths were reported in Haripur, police said on Tuesday.

According to SHO of the Makhniyal police station, two groups traded fire over a property dispute in Hariyala village leaving two women dead.

Also, three picnickers drowned in the Khanpur dam.

The deceased, who bathed in the reservoir despite ban, included Mohammad Talha, a 16-year-old resident of Rahbar Colony, Taxila, and Abdul Mohiz, a 17-year-old resident of Adiala area, Rawalpindi, and an unidentified man in his 30s.

The Serae Saleh police said Mehrban of Bagra No 2 village was stabbed to death by Abid Riaz.

Also, a 15-month-old boy was killed and his grandmother suffered injuries after the roof of their room collapsed in Kupri village of Nara Amazai union council on Monday.

Lives claimed by firing, accidents, roof collapse, drowning incidents

The Khanpur police said Syed Sibtain Shah of Tofkiyan village was killed when he was struck by gunfire between two rival groups on GT Road on Tuesday morning.

Police quoted witnesses as saying that Sibtain Shah was caught in crossfire as he requested both groups not to fight.

They said the deceased went to the Khanpur bazaar for shopping.

Meanwhile, eight people, including two women, were killed in parts of Karak district.

The police said Farmanullah and Mohammad Nasir of Darshakhel area died of critical injuries as the two motorcycles they rode collided head-on in Shahinullah Chowk of Takht-i-Nusrati tehsil on Saturday night.

Two people suffered critical injuries in the incident.

In another incident in the area the same night, two motorcyclists were killed and two were critically injured.

On Sunday, a woman died of burns after a main high tension power line fell on her house in Mohallah Ashrafkhel Takht-i-Nusrati bazaar.

Another woman, who was injured in the incident, was admitted to the Takht-i-Nusrati tehsil headquarters hospital.

Also, a stray bullet killed a woman, Arooj, in Zarki Nusrati area of Karak district on Saturday night.

In another incident, a student of the Khushal Khan Khattak University, Karak, drowned in Sharqi dam Tuesday morning while bathing.
