RAWALPINDI -- Only 17pc of the 57,178 applicants for the Prime Minister`s Tiger Force have begun volunteering alongside district administrations to raise awareness about social distancing and standard operating procedures (SOP) issued to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

According to officials, 57,178 people applied for the force in the Rawalpindi division, 35,072 in Rawalpindi district, 8,548 in Attock distrct, 7,448 in Chakwal and 6,110 in Jhelum district. Of these, 48,061 were contacted.

As many as 48,061 contacted the district administrations of Rawalpindi division that they were ready to work as volunteers. However, 11696 of them have joined the force so far in the four districts 6038 in Rawalpindi, 3037 in Attock, 1193 in Jhelum and 1428 in Chakwal.

There are 450 volunteers deployed at quarantine centres and hospitals in Rawalpindi district, 410 in Attock, 142 in Jhelum and 274 in Chakwal. For mosques SOP monitoring, 111 are deployed in Attock, 1333 in Jhelum, 147 in Chal(wal while no one is deployed in Rawalpindi. For lockdown monitoring, there are 780 in Rawalpindi and 125 in Chakwal, for registeration of unemployed people 620 are in Rawalpindi, 723 in Attock, 73 in Jhelum and 171 vol-unteers in Chakwal.
