16 police officials diagnosed with Covid-19.

LAHORE -- After the doctors and health workers, the Covid-19 has started infecting the police officials big time who are also on the front line in the fight against the pandemic as 16 police officials were diagnosed with the virus in two districts on Sunday.

Fifteen officials, including the SHO, of the Daska City Police Station in Sialkot district tested positive for the coronavirus while the Fateh Sher Police Station in Sahiwal district was sealed after confirmation of the a case in it.

SIALKOT: Thirty-six new cases of Covid-19 were reported in a day in Daska city on Sunday.

Senior officials of the Sialkot health department said 15 cases were reported from Daska City Police Station as the test reports of SHO Inspector Rana Asif Nadeem and 14 other police officials came positive. The situation also created panic among the local police.

The officials said the rest 21 new Covid-19 cases were reported from the city's Galla Sheikhaanwala and Darbar Sain Abdul Ghani localities and the surrounding areas.

The Daska city remained sealed for the second consecutive day on Sunday. Assistant Commissioner Asif Hussain Mehdi said the city would remain sealed until May 9. The local administration sealed the Badiana town in Pasrur tehsil after 10 fresh confirmed coronavirus cases surfaced there. Senior officials of the health department said the 10 new cases included four members of the same family.

All of these 10 new patients were shifted to the Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot.

The Rescue 1122 officials buried Covid patient Nida Bibi (29), the wife of Abdul Jabbar, in her native graveyard in Pasrur city.

She was admitted at Jinnah Hospital Lahore a month ago where she died on Sunday. Her dead body was brought to the town for burial.

SAHIWAL: An official of the Fateh Sher Police Station tested positive for Covid-19.

Daniyal, a resident of Gulistan Colony, was working as a computer operator at the police station when he started having cough and other symptoms of the virus. He got tested for the virus from a private laboratory.
