16 more lose life to virus.

PESHAWAR -- Death toll from coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reached 789 as 16 more residents died of the infection on Friday.

The province also recorded 608 more Covid-19 cases, which took the overall number of patients to 20,790, a health department report said.

It said the Covid-19 recoveries in the province totalled 5,623 after 182 patients tested negative for the virus.

Of the latest fatalities, six were reported in Peshawar, two in Nowshera and one each in Bannu, Karak, Malakand, Upper Dir, Swat, Mardan, Swabi and Charsadda.

According to the report, Peshawar recorded 169 more cases, Swat 98 new cases and Nowshera seven.

The number of Covid-19 cases in Swat totalled 2,045, the second highest after Peshawar. The district has also recorded 76 deaths from the virus, the second highest after Peshawar.

Lower Dir recorded 35 cases, Abbottabad and Khyber 32 each, Mardan 28, Malakand 27, Charsadda 21, Haripur 19, Karak and Dera Ismail...
