121 policemen face action over corruption.

PESHAWAR -- The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have taken action against 121 police officials for their involvement in corrupt practices during its campaign to curb smuggling and hoarding.

A statement issued here said that a meeting of regional police officers briefed KP police chief Sanaullah Abbasi on Thursday about the steps being taken to curb hoarding and smuggling of essential items.

The meeting was informed that 73 khasadar and levies personnel who were involved in corrupt practices had been removed from checkpoints and departmental action initiated against them.

In addition, 48 police personnel were removed from important positions for similar reasons.

The meeting proposed a joint coordination committee of intelligence agencies, customs, police and FIA to come up with a strategy to tackle smuggling.
