12,000 dengue patients treated at govt hospitals.

RAWALPINDI -- The three government-run hospitals in Rawalpindi checked 70,000 suspected dengue patients and treated 12,000 confirmed dengue patients between Aug 1 and Oct 27, the Punjab health minister was told on Tuesday.

Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid was chairing a meeting attended by Deputy Commissioner Saifullah Dogar, Additional Commissioner Saima Younas and other senior officials.

The meeting was informed that 18 union councils in Rawalpindi were declared sensitive and these areas were fumigated.

Monitoring teams and third party evaluations are being carried out.

Under standard operating procedures issued by the Punjab government, 3,231 notices were served to areas where dengue larvae was detected, 356 police cases were registered, 119 persons arrested and 1,444 buildings...
