LARKANA -- On average, 11 patients died daily in 2019 in the Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH), according to the hospital data available with this scribe on Saturday, According to the data, as many as 3918 patients expired last year out of entire admission of 66,117 at the hospital. The data says 49,304 patients were discharged, 4,414 Left Against Medical Advice (LAMA) perhaps for getting better treatment at private medical centers or were shifted to other public sector hospitals due to lack of proper medical facilities. The data further claimed that 24,791 patients were operated whereas 1,725,042 poverty-stricken ailing people came to CMCH OPD for medical examination and treatment. It said that 128,933 x-rays were carried out and 96,296 ultrasounds were made during the same period while 341,627 laboratory tests were conducted and 15,883 kidney-failure patients got dialysis to remain alive. As many as 1,274 lithotripsy patients got removed their kidney stones and ECG of 31,400 cardiac patients were also made along with NVD of 3,237 heart cases. Most of the patients, credible sources claimed, procured costly and cheap medicines from their pocket because supply of the government medicines was delayed due Central Procurement System which has multiplied woes of the indisposed people as well as for the administration of relevant hospital authorities.
