1,000 bags of subsidised flour seized.

LAHORE -- The district administration claimed to have seized a huge quantity of subsidised flour from a warehouse in Saggian on Tuesday.

A special team under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner City Muhammad Murtaza conducted a raid in the Saggian area and seized 1,000 flour bags stocked in the godown to smuggle them. Flour from the subsidized bags was being packed in private bags when the team reached the site.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali has ordered strict monitoring of flour supply at all exit points of the city to foil smuggling bids.

Earlier, the district administration ensured supply of 434,496 bags of flour at different points. The flour will be made available at shops, general stores and tracking supply points.

On the other hand, as the flour crisis worsened, long queues of citizens were witnessed at the subsidised flour points in the city.

The subsidised flour is being sold in the black at Rs700 to Rs750 per 10kg bag instead of Rs648 in Punjab.
